Efland is a small town located in Orange County, North Carolina, United States. It is situated about 15 miles northwest of Chapel Hill and 20 miles west of Durham. The town has a population of approximately 800 residents, and it covers an area of about 1.3 square miles.
Efland has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. The town was initially known as White Cross and was a significant stop on the North Carolina Railroad. The name Efland was adopted in the 1890s after a resident named Adam Efland bequeathed a large portion of his land to the railroad company, but only on the condition that they use his name.
